May 02, 2009 Re: Historic serial numbers Well as you know that is info I posted from the Gibson Forum that I found and has been reffered to here before. Yes, that is vague as the truth lies in the sequence will include say an R8 and a '58 Jr. Not all of the sequential numbers will be R8's and that is what I am saying so I guess we don't disagee. Gibson Custom Shop is the pinnacle of craftsmanship, quality, and sound excellence. Each instrument celebrates Gibson's legacy through accuracy, authenticity and attention to detail. 1960 was the last year for the original Les Paul Standard, nearly identical to a 1959 model except for a few specs. RRR(R) indicates the guitar's place production for that year. NOTE: This number includes all models for a particular reissue year - so, for example, a 1958 Reissue serial number may include '58 Reissue LP Standard and '58 Explorer production. 1960 was the last year for the original Les Paul Standard, nearly identical to a 1959 model except for a few specs. Most notably, it features a fast-playing slim neck profile, beloved by the many famous musicians who played '60 Bursts including Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, and Paul McCartney. It also has 'reflector' Volume & Tone knobs and wider 'double-ring' tuner tips. The Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue is a clone of the originals from the hide-glue construction to the chemically re-engineered plastic parts. Each one is built with extreme care, reverence and attention to detail by expert Custom Shop craftspeople who are committed to providing an authentic vintage ownership experience. + expand + We are unfortunately unable to ship this guitar internationally at this time due to CITES restrictions on rosewood.
